PHILADELPHIA, PA, June 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) Gary Taffet is an insurance professional who helps a diverse group of companies come up with comprehensive benefits packages for their employees. Now, Taffet is issuing comment on a new article that discusses the types and benefits of travel insurance. Taffet states that travel insurance can prove useful for vacationers, particularly those who have invested in a high-price trip.
Many people view travel insurance as an unnecessary extra when, in reality, this kind of coverage frequently comes in handy. Unexpected circumstances often arise that prevent an individual, couple, or family from taking a trip that they have already spent a significant amount of money on. This kind of coverage can also protect a vacationer who is able to go on their getaway, but is then forced to leave early.
Prior to purchasing any type of travel insurance, an individual should first look at their homeowner and medical insurance policies in further detail. In some situations there will be overlap, so understanding exactly what pre-existing policies cover is important. It is common for homeowner's insurance to cover loss of electronics or jewelry during a trip. Should the vacationer fall ill while traveling, personal medical insurance often picks up a portion of the medical bills.
Gary Taffet comments on the importance of travel insurance stating, "Many vacationers assume that their trip will happen uninterrupted but, unfortunately, sometimes unpredictable circumstances arise and cause a disruption to the trip. Travel insurance can help to protect the person from financial loss should a cancellation or an early departure become necessary."
Some of the popular types of travel insurance include trip cancellation/interruption (TCI), which becomes useful should the vacationer have to end the trip early or cancel it entirely. It covers causes such as injury, sickness, or death of a family member or traveling companion.
Emergency medical evacuation is another popular type of coverage. It is important for those who are heading off to an area that is far from modernized medical care. This kind of protection ensures that a vacationer in need of medical care will get transferred to a place that has an acceptable treatment facility.
A baggage loss policy covers lost, stolen, or damaged suitcases. Should the bag get lost or stolen during the excursion, the vacationer will get reimbursed for some of the contents inside the suitcase. This policy is worthwhile for those who are carrying more than $2,500 worth of goods with them on a trip.
Gary Taffet encourages all vacationers to consider purchasing travel insurance, and advises them to read the fine print included in the various policies to find the one that will work best for them.
