HONG KONG, June 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) According to the amendment gazette published on 9 April (1), there are amendments to Articles 5, 6 and 7 of the "Sanitation Standard for Food Utensils, Containers and Packages", including:
1 - Addition of new requirement on prohibition of BPA in baby bottles in article 5;
2 - Relocation of the general specification for food utensils, containers and packaging to article 6; and
3 - Deletion on limits of BPA in dissolution testing on polycarbonate, polyphenylene sulfone and polyethersulfone for baby bottles.
The amended provisions will become effective on 1 September 2013 for baby bottles manufactured and imported into Taiwan. From 1 March 2014, the amended provisions will apply to all baby bottles on the market.

Taiwan to Prohibit BPA in Baby Bottles
Taiwan recently announced the ban of bisphenol A (BPA) in baby bottles manufactured in or imported into Taiwan according to the amendment gazette published by the Department of Health (DoH) on 9 April 2013. The effective date is 1 September 2013.
