WUSA9 Winsa Multiple Emmy Awards in Many Categories

Washington DC's WUSA9 won more Emmy Awards than any other DC television station with 11 total awards.

WASHINGTON, DC, June 20, 2013 (Press-News.org) Washington D.C.'s WUSA 9 turned the Mid Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards into a WUSA 9 sweep - winning more Emmy Awards than any other D.C. television station. WUSA 9 brought home 11 Emmy awards on Saturday including best newscaster, storm team coverage, investigative reporting and best newscast.

Winners include:
• Best News Anchor - Lesli Foster
• Weather—Single Story - the entire WUSA9 News Team for coverage of the Hurricane Sandy Aftermath
• Best Daytime newscast - Jessica Glasser and Joel McDonald for the 6pm News on WUSA 9

Investigative reporter Andrea McCarren won five separate Emmy awards primarily for her series of reports on underage drinking, and Lesli Foster's news series Jeep Tank Fires was another winner in the Consumer Reporting category.

General Manager, Mark Burdett said, "I am extremely proud of and excited for all of our nominees and winners but more importantly I am excited for our whole news room and entire station as this recognition represents validation for the hard work of all WUSA9 employees."
