EAST SUSSEX, ENGLAND, June 23, 2013 (Press-News.org) Caburn Hope Account Director Jessica Benfield and Digital Account Manager Nikki Laker recently attended The Digital Journeys Conference hosted by JellyFish, a Digital Agency based in Reigate.
The event delivered a pretty impressive line-up of speakers including Google's Head of UK Performance; Director of Twitter UK; Google's Lead Product Marketing Manager; and the Display & Industry Manager of YouTube.
A range of interesting topics were covered, including future proofing digital propositions; the power of the smartphone for marketeers; and new developments from Google focusing on 'Google Now' via The Google Search App.
"Digital Journeys was very insightful, helping us to develop our knowledge into some very exciting social and real time developments soon to emerge onto the market." recalls Nikki. "Both of us soaked up so much digital info over the course of the event, we're already looking forward to attending next year's conference.
Some key statistics from the event:
1. The average person will check their smartphone 150 times a day
2. Currently the global smartphone penetration is 1.2 billion
3. In the UK, the smartphone penetration is 62% with 75% anticipated by the end of 2013
4. 84% of smartphone owners use their phone whilst in retail store
5. 19% of all purchases made online happen between 8 and 12pm
6. A huge 43% of the top brands do not currently have mobile sites
It is clear to see that 'marketing in the moment' is big business and that brands need to capitalise on the mobile market in order to stay ahead of the competition and in front of the ever growing mobile audience.
