2010-11-04
PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 04, 2010 (Press-News.org) Stanley Goldis, CPA and partner of the accounting and consulting firm Citrin Cooperman & Company, LLP in Philadelphia, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools of Greater Philadelphia.

Created by the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia in partnership with six local day schools, the Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides need-based scholarships to students from low- to middle-income families. Students benefitting from the Foundation's scholarships attend the six day schools and dozens of pre-schools in the Greater Philadelphia area.

A dedicated supporter of charitable endeavors, Goldis believes strongly in assisting those who are less fortunate. "My father set an excellent example of giving back to one's community," said Goldis. "I am proud to follow in his footsteps by honoring my obligation to help those in need."

As a father and a grandfather, Goldis also appreciates the importance of education in shaping future generations. He has served as treasurer of the Bala Cynwyd Library in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., for 10 years and has provided annual accounting services to the Library since 1992. Goldis also handles pro bono work in an advisory capacity for Chasdei Eliyahu, a nonprofit in Wynnewood, Pa., that accepts donations of furniture, clothing, kosher food, money and automobiles for members of the Greater Philadelphia community. He serves on the endowment committee for Torah Academy of Greater Philadelphia and on the board of directors for the Stern Hebrew High School in Philadelphia. He was honored at the inaugural dinner of Ohr Shalom Synagogue, in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Israel, for his efforts in the establishment of a permanent facility there. An avid cyclist, Goldis has participated in the Wheels of Love bicycle ride to benefit Alyn Hospital in Jerusalem.
With more than 40 years of accounting experience, Goldis helps Citrin Cooperman clients maximize the value of their agreements - including buy-sell transactions, partnership agreements and bank loans - with third parties through valuation and negotiation services. He works with clients in a wide range of fields and has extensive experience with law firms, dental practices, physicians and other professional service providers. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. Goldis earned his accounting degree from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
