MANCHESTER, NH, June 27, 2013 (Press-News.org) Campbell High School senior Katie Kierstead was chosen as the recipient of the $500 PeKu Publications (PKP) Scholarship for graduating seniors. Kierstead was among the applicants for this scholarship that recognizes a senior with strong writing capabilities. Kierstead will be attending the College of St. Rose in New York this fall.
The PKP Scholarship was created by the internet-based publishing company last year as a way to give back to the local community. Campbell High School graduating seniors within the top twenty percent of their class were eligible to apply. Applicants were required to submit a 500-word essay to answer the following question as concisely and completely as possible: It is the year 2027; what major accomplishments have you achieved since college graduation?
All essays were submitted to the Campbell High School guidance office by March 29th. Michele Pesula Kuegler, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of PKP, and PKP associate editors received the essays with the applicants' names removed, and judged them based on intent, support, organization, and writing skills. The essay that received the highest score was chosen as the recipient of the scholarship. According to Pesula Kuegler, Kierstead was the unanimous choice of the panel.
Pesula Kuegler is a former teacher at Griffin Memorial, the elementary school in Litchfield, NH. She taught here until June of 2008, at which point she began to envision what soon would become PeKu Publications.
When discussing this scholarship opportunity Pesula Kuegler says, "Although PKP is a global company, I like that I am able to give back to the community that I consider to be home. I look forward to providing scholarships to Campbell seniors for many years to come."
PeKu Publications is an online publishing company that is comprised of 23 niche websites. For more information, please contact Michele Pesula Kuegler at michele@pekupublications.com.
