Local Boating And Golfing Community Recognizes Accomplished Pianist And Community Resident

2013-06-27
NEW BERN, NC, June 27, 2013 (Press-News.org) Fairfield Harbour (http://www.fhpoa.com), a residential boating and golf community located 15 minutes from historic New Bern, has announced that Pat Rivett, Fairfield Harbour resident and accomplished pianist, has been named to the Fairfield Harbour Property Owners Association Hall of Fame for her many years of dedication to the community. A graduate of the Juilliard School, Rivett retired and moved to the community from New York in 1980. She has taught music education to children of all ages, provided private piano lessons and accompanied musical groups, including the Marcellus New York Chorale. Within the Fairfield Harbour community, Rivett became the director of the now 60-member Fairfield Harbour chorus in 1984, which performs each year at Easter services, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony and the spring concert. In addition, the chorus under her leadership has traveled across the state to perform.

Since the 1990s, Rivett has helped many students at Craven Community College improve their musical talents by serving as accompanist for the Craven Community Chorus and playing piano for the school's vocal fundamentals classes. She was honored for her many musical accomplishments as arranger, choral director, vocal coach and piano teacher at a 2008 Craven Community Chorus concert entitled "Rivett Up!" To provide Craven Community College students with an opportunity to continue their musical education, a Pat Rivett Music Scholarship was established in her honor. In 2013, after 20 years of teaching at the community college, Rivett was the guest of honor at an event celebrating her contributions to the school.

QUOTES:
"Pat's contributions to Fairfield Harbour have made her an asset to this community," said Mystre' Van Horn, on-site community manager for Fairfield Harbour. "Her dedication to promoting music in our community and beyond is truly inspiring, and we are so proud to welcome her into the Fairfield Harbour Hall of Fame."

"We are excited to welcome Pat into the Fairfield Harbour Hall of Fame," said Larry Knapp, president of the Fairfield Harbour Board of Directors. "Under her direction, the community's chorus has brought more than 60 Fairfield Harbour residents together to celebrate their love of music and has made a positive impact on our area. I simply cannot imagine Fairfield Harbour without her."

"My sincerest congratulations to Pat Rivett as she is named to the Fairfield Harbour Hall of Fame," said John Stone, president of CAS, Inc. "She is a remarkable asset to Fairfield Harbour and embodies the definition of a community leader, as she has committed herself to giving back to Fairfield Harbour and its residents. We are so proud of all that she has accomplished in her lifetime and are honored to recognize her wonderful achievements and tremendous leadership."
