Pharmacy OneSource Announces Free Webinar with The Joint Commission on Infection Control

BELLEVUE, WA, August 25, 2010 (Press-News.org) Pharmacy OneSource, software-as-a-service provider of Sentri7, a real-time infection prevention surveillance, documentation and reporting system, is pleased to announce a complimentary webinar on Joint Commission infection control requirements with Louise Kuhny in "The Joint Commission Infection Control 2010 Update."

As of January 2010, The Joint Commission has issued three new National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG 7) for infection control: multidrug-resistant organisms, central line associated bloodstream infections and surgical site infections. This webinar will demonstrate how to design or enhance an infection control program that meets key infection control challenges and The Joint Commission IC standards.

Kuhny, Senior Associate Director of Standards Interpretation at The Joint Commission, will present information so that attendees will be able to successfully comply with expanded NPSG 7 requirements and implement evidence-based best practices for preventing nosocomial infections.

About the Presenter: Louise Kuhny currently holds the position of Senior Associate Director, Standards Interpretation at The Joint Commission. Kuhny's primary responsibility is assisting accredited organizations, surveyors, consumers and other individuals in the interpretation of Joint Commission standards. She is also a Joint Commission surveyor for the Hospital Accreditation Program. Kuhny has 20 years of nursing experience. Prior to joining The Joint Commission, she worked in hospital epidemiology, employee health and critical care at several Chicago area hospitals.

Kuhny is certified in infection control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and led an emergency services team for the Suburban Emergency Management Project (SEMP). Kuhny holds master's degrees in public health and business administration from Benedictine University, Lisle, Ill. She received her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
