SARASOTA, FL, November 10, 2010 (Press-News.org) Andrew Bers, Broker Associate, Prudential Palms Realty, invites homeowners to a free seminar on Tuesday, November 16, to help them separate myths from the realities of a short sale. Bers, a certified short sale and foreclosure specialist, will team with board-certified real estate attorney Steven Greenberg of Icard, Merrill, Cullis, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg. The seminar will be held at the Sarasota Board of Realtors auditorium, 3590 South Tuttle Avenue (between Siesta Drive and Bee Ridge Road), at 6:00 p.m.
"Half of the homeowners in Sarasota and Manatee Counties owe more on their mortgages than the market value of their homes, and many are having trouble making their mortgage payments," says Bers. "They are struggling to understand their options including short sale and foreclosure. We have designed our seminar to guide homeowners through the pre-foreclosure process, beginning with the three top reasons to consider a short sale," he says. In addition to short sales, the presenters will discuss mortgage modification, deed in lieu, foreclosure, bankruptcy and possible assistance from government programs. "We will consider each option in terms of its possible tax consequences and credit impact," he adds.
In addition, Bers and Greenberg will discuss ways for homeowners to protect their assets, avoid taxes on a deficiency and head off debt collections after a sale. They will also provide information for potential buyers considering bank-owned properties versus short sales.
"We have set aside ample time for questions after the seminar," Bers says. "Our goal is to help homeowners determine their best course of action. They need to know their options now, to protect their assets and themselves from tax, credit and deficiency judgments."
Those wishing to attend this free seminar may register at www.AndrewBers-Seminars.com or call 941-383-2550.

Latest Mortgage Fraud Crisis May Help Homeowners Keep Their Homes
2010-11-10

Recently, it has come to light that many of the nation's biggest lenders, including Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and GMAC, have been using questionable documentation to foreclose on homes all across the country.
In some cases, the lenders have been instructing employees to sign thousands of foreclosure documents a day without proper witnesses and notaries. These so-called "robo-signers" are signing affidavits that say they have reviewed the loan ...
A Will: Why You Should Have One
2010-11-10
A will provides the heirs of your estate with instruction in how to distribute the assets of your estate; sounds pretty dry and uninteresting. Unfortunately for many, it is only after a person dies that the will, or lack thereof, becomes interesting. By then, it's too late.
Most people know they should have a will, but they tend to put it off, especially if they are young. They may have been to very few funerals and not known many people who have died. They think wills and estate planning are for the future and they have plenty of time before they need to consider such ...
