SAN ANTONIO, TX, November 11, 2010 (Press-News.org) Country Home Learning Center, with locations in both San Antonio and Austin, TX, is proud to announce that they are phasing in a recycling program that will include: paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum and plastic. This recycling program will add to the green efforts already in place at Country Home Learning Center.
Country Home Learning Center currently has a number of green and healthy efforts in place to ensure the health and well-being of students such as, utilizing a privately-available pest control service that uses organic, chemical-free pesticides. Country Home minimizes exposure to harmful chemicals in a variety of ways including: thoroughly washing all fruits and vegetables before serving, using bio-degradable cleaners, using non-toxic art supplies approved by the Art and Creative Materials Institute, avoiding mercury exposure by utilizing digital thermometers, and by avoiding toys made out of soft-plastic vinyl which can sometimes contain harmful PVC's.
Country Home Learning Center prides itself on providing a healthy environment for their students and part of this effort is the use of a digital humidity monitor to help avoid excess moisture, which contributes to the growth of mold and mildew. Playground equipment made of treated wood is regularly sealed with a polyurethane coating. Country Home Learning Center does not (and has never) permitted smoking anywhere on our campus, or in the sight of children; the healthiest environment for a child is smoke-free.
As part of their eco-friendly effort, Country Home Learning Center has vowed to only use low-VOC commercial paints and is also in the process of converting mercury-containing thermostats to digital thermostats. ( http://www.countryhomelearningcenter.com/ ) Country Home Learning Center has also recently placed a new sign at the front door asks that parents not idle their vehicles in designated parking areas in order to cut down on toxic emissions.
Country Home Learning Center has provided parents with a number of eco-friendly tips so that they may join the effort of going green at home. Country Home Learning Center is also encouraging parents to get the children involved by letting them help to sort recyclable materials.
