SOUTHBURY, CT, November 11, 2010 (Press-News.org) For the second year in a row, representatives from FranchisEsource Brands International (FSBI) and its Women Empowered by Business (WEBB) support group are helping to find a cure for breast cancer by participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Walk in Phoenix.
Brian Miller, president and chief operating officer of FSBI, will lead a team of eight in the walk, set to take place November 12-14, 2010, covering 60 miles over three days. FSBI and WEBB will join nearly 2,000 others as they travel 20 miles a day by foot to raise funds for innovative global breast cancer research and local education, screening and treatment programs.
This year, FSBI and WEBB have collected $23,000 in pledges, surpassing last year's total of $18,000.
"The numbers are staggering. More than 12 percent of women born today will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives," said Judy Stoleson, a franchisee with FSBI's The Entrepreneur's Source and co-founder of WEBB. "Tragically, several colleagues of ours and people close to them have been impacted by this deadly disease. By participating in the walk we're happy to do our part in finding a cure."
Stoleson will join Miller and Lori Tyll, senior vice president of operations for FSBI and the other co-founder of WEBB, in leading their team on the walk.
"The Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation is leading the fight to cure breast cancer," Tyll said. "We urge citizens across the country to participate in the walks planned for their cities in the coming years."
