Bill Sheehan of Degust-Mer Inc. Discusses Seafood Industry Trends in Food & Drink Digital

In an interview with Food & Drink Digital, Bill Sheehan, Vice President of Degust-Mer Inc. talks about his shellfish company and seafood trends.

2010-11-12
SAN DIEGO, CA, November 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) In an interview with Food & Drink Digital, Bill Sheehan, Vice President of Degust-Mer Inc. talks about his shellfish company and seafood trends.

"There's a bigger demand for shrimp right now," says Sheehan in the article. "The price went up on shrimp in a lot of commodities, so people are looking for more and more ready-to-eat foods."

People are starting to use more frozen products instead of fresh products. Sheehan explains if customers were to order live lobster right now, the price is going to be the same as frozen because the demand for frozen foods is increasing, even the price of frozen lobster today would be as if it were ordered during the cheapest time of the year. Even the seafood industry in Europe is seeing an increase in the demand for frozen products.

Degust-Mer Inc.'s priority is also with its customers regarding their demand for new products. When the Company started processing lobster four years ago, they were doing frozen cooked lobster meat. Currently, they are processing 15 kinds of products with the lobster in different, smaller, retail packaging. Read the full article:
