The Cotopaxi volcano is one of the most incredible mountains of Ecuador and one of the highest active volcanoes of the world. To ascend the Cotopaxi is an extraordinary adventure for any mountain climber that wishes to conquer one of the highest peaks and that loves nature, sports and adventure! The Cotopaxi volcano is not a difficult mountain technically speaking, but, due to its height and time to ascend, requires an adequate physical condition and excellent acclimation. This program to ascend the Cotopaxi is designed to reach an adequate acclimation while discovering the marvelous things that Ecuador offers. We may visit the historic center of Quito that will surprise you with its Churches, Palaces, Convents and Colonial Theaters or the Otavalo Market to discover the culture and handicraft and enjoy a place surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers. We may climb some of the mountains as a practice for our final goal such as the Rucu Pichincha, Pasochoa and North Iliniza, each one with its own characteristics such as rocky walls, sands and paramos that will surprise you. We will also have time to rest in thermal waters and select different activities such as bicycle, trekking or horse back exercise in a farm near the Cotopaxi.

Highlights of the Cotopaxi Trekking Trip Include: Volcanoes, Glaciers, Andes Mountain Range, Crater of the Cotopaxi, Paramos, Wild life, Bird watching, Quito Colonial, Otavalo, Papallacta.

Peak to Peak to Cotopaxi Trekking Itinerary:

Day 1 Transfer and accommodation at selected hotel.

Day 2 Quito Colonial and Middle of the World, or handicraft market in Otavalo (select one activity). - Quito is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Latin America and declared as Patrimony of Humanity by the UNESCO. You may be able to explore the most important churches, theaters, convents and palaces while walking through the small antique streets of the city. During the afternoon we will visit the monument at the Middle of the World, well known due to its location at parallel 0 and meridian 0, 0´ 0". If you decide to visit the Otavalo Market, we will take you to one of the most important artisan markets in South America to know handicrafts of the zone and hand made clothes.

Day 3 Ascending to the Rucu Pichincha - This peak is an excellent Start to the process of acclimation. From this mountain you may be able to observe the city of Quito and other volcanoes of the Mountain Range such as the
Antisana, Cotopaxi, Pasochoa and Iinizas.

Day 4 Thermal waters of Papallacta - The perfect place for relax while enjoying nature and continue to be in a high place. The room includes private jaccuzzi of termal water.

Day 5 Ascending to the Pasochoa volcano- With 4.200 meters of altitude, the excursion starts at the forest where we are able to find tropical flowers called bromeliads, orchids and a great variety of birds until we reach the paramo and finally the rock and the top. Accommodation will be at a nice farm called "El Porvenir" located near the Cotopaxi to continue with acclimation.

Day 6 Ascending to the North Iliniza Volcano - This will be the highest peak to climb before the Cotopaxi. With its 5, 126 meters of altitude, it is a bite rocky and occasionally is covered with snow. The red sands and
the vegetation of the paramo will surprise you; and if weather allows, we will have and incredible view of the Avenue of the volcanoes.

Day 7
Free day at "El Porvenir" - This nice farm is located near the Cotopaxi. You will be able to rest and select among tours, canopy, rappel, mountain bike, trekking and exercise on horse back.

Day 8 & 9 Ascending to the Cotopaxi - This is the most important day of our adventure. We are use to the weather enough to climb the top of the Cotopaxi. Accommodation will be in the Refuge of the volcano to start and early morning walk. It is a surprising experience for anyone that loves mountains, nature, sports and adventure! You will take along a special sensation and emotions never experienced! Return to Quito for accommodation at any selected hotel.

Day 10
Transfer to international airport.
