SEVERNA PARK, MD, February 18, 2014 (Press-News.org) Writer David A Roberts has released a Kickstarter campaign for Mile High, a raunchy comedy series, featuring David Allen. A twenty four year old who has done very well for himself since graduating high school. With a lot of luck and help from his friends, David managed to fumble his way into a highly successful business that he started near the end of his junior year. Now, six years later, David has a problem. A recent law passed by the state of Colorado now threatens his livelihood. The voters passed legalizing marijuana and his clients will no longer need his services in a few short months. David's business is, ironically, still on the wrong side of the law.
Together with his girlfriend Lori and his best friend Chet, David tries to figure out how to become a legal pot dealer in the new world of Government bureaucracy and oversight. He knows how to maneuver around gangs and rival drug dealers. But can he keep his sanity while fighting large corporations trying to steal his special blend of pot, City Hall's regulations that seem to change by the hour and bankers in suits?
David wants to do more than just a simple novella series.
"Using social media, the readers will be able to interact with the story in a way that could never be done before." David says. "Readers will be able to post feedback on what has been released and suggest what they would like to see in future volumes. Everything from character and location names, new characters and traits, even vote on an up coming story line. Using the latest technology will allow an interactive storyline involving not only myself, but the readers as well. Each volume will take under an hour to read with the long term goal to release a new volume every two weeks, making it highly interactive to the readers. Vote on the story and read the results in a matter of weeks."
Digital books are making it extremely cheap to deliver high quality entertainment to a large audience. While digital media and self publishing are still in their infancy, its popularity is soaring. According to Bowker's latest self-publishing report, the amount of self-published book titles available went up 59% between 2011 and 2012. David feels that the time is right for a new paradigm shift. "Stir in some crowd-sourcing, add a pinch of social media, and let it simmer, and what you can end up with is something that could truly shake traditional publishing industry to its core."
Dave Stanton, author of the Dan Reno crime series calls it "Very entertaining!"
David A Roberts' Mile High Volume 1 - Butterscotch Mirage Kickstarter project runs through March 16th, 2014 at 4:59pm EST. If the goal isn't met by the end of the campaign, then no funds change hands. Those interested in supporting the project, should visit http://kck.st/NVGSle to learn more.
