CALGARY, AB, February 19, 2014 (Press-News.org) According to the Canadian Cancer Society, there are an average of 187,000 new cases of cancer around the country each year, and 75,000 deaths per year. Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada, accounting for 30 percent of all deaths. Every donation to the organization is considered a gift of life, as it helps with their ongoing life-saving work. Digital Lion has made its first charitable donation of the year to the Canadian Cancer Society, in an effort to help support their ongoing vital work.
"Just about everyone has been impacted by cancer in some way, as we all know someone has had it," explains Ryan Levin, president of Digital Lion, a professional website design company based in Calgary. "Each year, we give 10 percent of all profits to charities that help others. The Canadian Cancer Society is a great example of one of those charities."
The Canadian Cancer Society helps people around the country who get diagnosed with cancer, along with their families who may need information and support. They provide answers to questions, peer support services, a database of cancer-related services and resources, smoking cessation information, and more. They can even help provide people with transportation, wigs, and financial assistance.
Digital Lion is a company that strives to be socially responsible, including being environmentally friendly, that helps charities in its area annually. Its donations go to charities that help others. In addition to its financial contribution, Digital Lion employees also engage in yearly volunteer work, all in an effort to continue their mission of "Designing a Better World ."
