DUNDAS, ONTARIO, CANADA, February 20, 2014 (Press-News.org) Patricia Wakefield, Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management, and Director of the Master of Health Management Program of the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in teaching and research.
Dr. Wakefield has more than 25 years' experience in business and industry, with 15 years of experience in education, a field she was perhaps preordained to enter. Her mother was a teacher, and she inherited her natural curiosity and desire for knowledge from her.
With three years in her current role, Dr. Wakefield is teaching health care marketing, marketing research, introduction to health management, and health management foundations to MBA-level students. A skilled problem-solver, she is also conducting research on health care delivery systems in mental health and cancer care, identifying patient needs, social support, and particular interest in under-served populations. In the future, Ms. Wakefield aspires to complete her current research pertaining to the issues of survivors of rare cancers.
Prior to joining academia, Dr. Wakefield worked in various management positions in business and industry in New York City and Vermont, including as owner and president of a marketing and management consulting firm; vice president of marketing and customer services at Central Vermont Public Services, Rutland Vt.; director of sales and marketing at Celanese Fibers Marketing Company in New York City (as well as several other management positions with this company). She has been successful because she cares greatly about the work she does, regardless of the field.
Dr. Wakefield's education is vast and impressive. She earned a Doctor of Business Administration from Boston University, a Master of Public Administration from New York University, a Master of Science from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta.
