GREELEY, CO, February 22, 2014 (Press-News.org) On Tuesday, February 18, 2014, Good Day Pharmacy Chief Operations Officer, Vicki Einhellig, and Good Day Pharmacy Manager, Valerie Weatherington-Harris, met with US Representative, Cory Gardner, to discuss healthcare issues both at the state level and nationally. Cory Gardner is the Republican U.S. Representative for Colorado's 4th congressional district. It was a valuable hour for all parties, which resulted in dynamic dialogues that were enlightening for everyone involved. Congressman Gardner and his staff representative, Maria Secrest, were extremely knowledgeable about specific pharmacy topics which made the meeting interactive and productive. Also in attendance was Independent Pharmacy Cooperative/RxPlus's Brad Young. Key discussion points included: mandatory mail order prescriptions (deemed mandatory by employers and their respective health insurance providers, which eliminates choice of pharmacy and direct contact with a pharmacist for the patient, and also removes revenue from local economies), prescription plan reimbursement, Affordable Care Act, prescription compounding legislation, diabetic testing supply delivery, medication synchronization, immunizations, and pharmacist accessibility and health care team member.
The meeting took place at the Good Day Pharmacy located inside Greeley Medical Clinic at 1900 16th Street, Greeley CO. Good Day Pharmacy is an independent, family-owned company with nine pharmacies in Northern Colorado, and employs 133 Colorado residents. It is co-owned by David Lamb, Vicki Einhellig, and Nancy Lamb. Collaboratively, all three owners serve on several organization boards: Rx Plus, Independent Pharmacy Cooperative, Independent Advisory Board, Poudre Valley Health System Ethics Board, Long Term Care Network, and local community associations. Good Day Pharmacy participates with Project C.U.R.E., a non-profit that is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. Good Day also hosts internship programs and student rotations for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy school students.
