MADISON, WI, February 26, 2014 (Press-News.org) Wellbe, Inc. today announced that it was named a finalist in the Box + Dignity Health Patient Education App Challenge. With more than 150 applications, Wellbe has been chosen as one of five companies to advance to the final judging round with Aaron Levie, CEO of Box, Aneesh Chopra, former CTO, White House, Ted Maidenberg, General Partner, The Social+Capital Partnership and Richard Roth, Vice President, Strategic Innovation, Dignity Health.
In October 2013, Box, a cloud-based content and collaboration management platform, Dignity Health, the nation's fifth largest hospital system and The Social+Capital Partnership, a Silicon Valley based venture capital, launched an app challenge to drive innovation in patient education. The contest challenged developers to build tools that deliver health information and engage patients in taking a more proactive approach to their health. The winning team will receive a $100,000 investment in the form of a convertible note and one month of office space and mentorship from The Social+Capital Partnership. The winners will also have the opportunity to present the product to Dignity Health's leadership as a potential pilot project.
"We are excited to be on a national stage competing with innovators working to transform healthcare," said James Dias, CEO of Wellbe. "The competition gives us great exposure at exactly the time when the industry is looking to make the shift to value and to be chosen as a finalist affirms that our solutions are the right track."
Hospitals looking for more efficient and effective ways to engage patients across the continuum of care use Wellbe's Guided CarePaths to ensure the highest level of patient preparation, support and treatment adherence. Case management tools and automated alerts are provided for program coordinators and navigators to monitor and manage the populations of patients through each step in the episode of care.
Patients undergoing major treatments or procedures and their caregivers access their online Guided CarePaths to get comprehensive information on every element of their care plan: shared decision-making, education, appointments, reminders, etc.
Wellbe's Guided CarePaths are on exhibit February 24-26 in the HIMSS14 Startup Showcase in Booth #7293-13. A live demo is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25th from 3:30-4:00 pm Eastern Time.
