DEROIT, MI, February 26, 2014 (Press-News.org) As the popularity of mason jars continues to grow, Detroit-based Jar Juicer - The Juicer for a Jar! launches, creating a new use for the iconic household staple. Jar Juicer is a citrus juicer that works with any wide-mouth mason jar. The Patent Pending product is BPA-Free, Dishwasher Safe and will be made in Detroit, Michigan. It is currently available for pre-order online at http://jarjuicer.com
"From the classic threaded top, to the standard measurement lines, to the durable glass construction, all the classic features of a mason jar make it the perfect base for a citrus juicer," says Brian Curtis, Inventor of Jar Juicer.
Jar Juicer attaches to the top of a mason jar and is secured in place with the lid's threaded metal band. It features a two-sided design, which allows for juicing with one side, and drinking or pouring with the other. The product is best-suited for most small to mid-sized oranges, but can also be used to juice smaller citrus fruits like lemons or limes.
Jar Juicer will be produced in Detroit, MI. When asked about the decision to manufacture his product domestically, Curtis said, "We're proud Detroiters. From the very beginning, we knew we wanted to support our local economy in every way we could, including having it made here."
Curtis, who had no prior experience developing a consumer product, says when the idea came to him, he thought he could simply go online and order one. "I feel like Jar Juicer is one of those products that you see, and say 'Why didn't I think of that?' so I assumed someone had already invented it. When I learned that nobody had, I decided it was something I needed to pursue."
The response has been quite positive. Jar Juicer has already received a great deal of support, having been chosen as one of just six Editor Picks in Apartment Therapy's, The Kitchn, in their Things Making Us Happy This Week column, just one day after the product was launched.
Jar Juicer is currently available for pre-order, through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. One week in, Jar Juicer has surpassed 20% of its funding goal, and still has nearly eight weeks to go.
