Joe is a Director of Labourers' International Union of North America (LiUNA) and Executive President of the Alliance of Portuguese Clubs and Associations of Ontario (ACAPO). He received the Order of Portugal for his dedication and devotion to the promotion of Canadian-Portuguese culture in Ontario and he has established two strong local merchant associations. For the past fifteen years, he has orchestrated the successful Portugal Week Festival which brings over half a million residents and visitors to Davenport each year.
