Dr. Allen Edward Goldenthal Honored for Success in Medical Research
2014-03-10
SHENZHEN GUANG DONG, CHINA, March 10, 2014 (Press-News.org) Dr. Allen Edward Goldenthal, Director of the Faculty of Health at the University of Macau, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in his profession.

The University of Macau is a biomedical university that provides the latest research into cancer treatments. Dr. Goldenthal is an expert in adoptive T-cell therapy, immunotherapy whereby a patient's autologous T-cells are expanded so they can respond to proscribed antigens and then infused back into the same patient's bloodstream to fight cancer.

In this critical work of treating cancer, Dr. Goldenthal has three decades of experience. His expertise is in pre-clinical modeling, immunotherapy, quality management, and vaccine development, specializing in those diseases for which there has been no prior vaccine. At the university, Dr. Goldenthal is focusing on establishing models of cancer vaccines and immunotherapy, a field which is now well-established in Asia, as government regulations did not hold up actual treatments due to clinical trials as in the West. In particular, the companies he has been associated with have achieved in cancer patients a 20 percent full remission, and 40 percent regression or stasis status. He is currently working on cytokine influences of adoptive immunotherapy for cancer. In the future, he hopes to see the University of Macau become the premier school in Asia in the biomedical sciences, and develop effective treatments against cancer.
Dr. Goldenthal is currently holding director positions at Shenzhen Hornetcorn Biotechnology, Chiwi Bio Limited and the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Macau. He is also a former director at PMC-Sanofi, and has held similar positions with Novotech Pharma, Massey University AHSC, and the Valley Animal Research Center.

He became involved in his profession because he felt he could make a significant and positive inpact on people's lives and well-being, achieving success against those diseases, where the medical profession previously had made little progress. He says that working 24/7 is the key to his success, which was also aided by his impressive education.

Dr. Goldenthal earned a Ph.D. in medical technology from the Trinity College and University in 1998, his thesis titled "The Apo-Lipoprotein E Pathway as a Possible Mechanism Causing the Neurological Disorders of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease and Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy," with supervisor Dr. M. Walcroft (Sanofi-PMC). This thesis was published in Sperling Biomedical Electronic Journal in 1997. Dr. Goldenthal earned an MBA in economics from Massey University in 2004, a Bachelor of Science in DVM and veterinary medicine, from the University of Guelph in 1980, and an Honorable Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of Toronto/Guelph in 1976.

In recognition of all of his achievements, Dr. Goldenthal was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding and received the Ahui Province Accreditation for Immunotherapy by Foreign Experts in the city of Hefei in October 2013. He is a member of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario and the Veterinary Council of New Zealand.
