The Wounded Warrior Project was formed shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Their motto is "The greatest casualty is being forgotten," which reflects the suffering and challenges many wounded soldiers and service members face after being wounded and returning to the US. Richard A. Counts has nothing but the utmost respect for soldiers and supports the Wounded Warrior Project because they provide various programs and services for wounded soldiers. These programs support them financially and emotionally as they adjust to their new lives. Richard A. Counts' South Hunt Creek Ranch provides a great setting for "Wounded Warriors". The Ranch is surrounded by the 1.2 million acre Routt County National Forest as well as the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. According to Richard A. Counts, "we have a very nurturing environment. The American Cancer Society is an organization formed in 1913 to fight and eventually eliminate cancer. Richard A Counts supports the American Cancer Society because they devote a great deal of their efforts to research to fight cancer as well as devoting resources to support those suffering from the horrible disease. Currently there are over 900 offices in the US.
The American Asthma Foundation is an organization founded to provide support and consulting for asthma sufferers. Richard A. Counts himself, suffered from chronic asthma beginning at the age of 2. Doctors told his parents on several occasions that he was not expected to live. "I know what it is like to not know where your next breath is coming from or, if". Richard A. Counts is committed to support the American Asthma Foundation for the remainder of his life.
The final charity that Richard A Counts supports is the MS Society. The MS Society was founded in 1946 to help educate, find a cure for, and support those with Multiple Sclerosis. Richard A Counts supports the MS Society because, much like the American Cancer Society, they devote many of their resources to research for the ultimate goal of curing MS. According to Richard A. Counts, a very good friend of mine has a daughter who suffers from MS and I have seen first-hand how debilitating it can be. Until a cure is found, Richard A Counts is happy to know that the MS Society supports many programs which support those suffering from the ailment.
