Second Annual Making the Cut Live Hair Show Competition to Name Orange County's Top Stylist

NEWPORT BEACH, CA, March 15, 2014 (Press-News.org) Scott Fontana, celebrity stylist and owner of Cristophe Salon Newport Beach, has released the date of the second annual Making the Cut live hair show competition to name Orange County's Top Stylist 2014. On March 31, 2014, six finalists will compete live on-stage at The Observatory in Santa Ana to showcase their talents in front of hundreds of local community members for the chance to win the title of OC's Top Stylist 2014, as well as $2,500 cash and other prizes.

Making the Cut is the beauty industry's first and only live hair competition of its kind. This year's sponsors include L'Oreal, Milani Hair , Prive Salon and products, Cezanne Perfect Finish Keratin Smoothing Treatment, Frankie Rose Cosmetics, Liquid Technologies, Scott Fontana Collection and Cristophe Salon Newport Beach. Building on the success of 2013's groundbreaking show, this year's high-end, professionally produced event and competition will feature live hair cutting and styling on stage by Orange County's leading stylists. Beauty industry elite comprises the judging panel, including: Scott Fontana, Laurent D. of Prive Salon and products, Leyla Milani of Milani Hair, and Raha Lewis of People Magazine. Jeremy Jackson, Hollywood actor and host and former Baywatch star, will serve as emcee of the evening.

This year's event will include red carpet photos, an opening performance by Scott Fontana, hosted small bites and appetizers, a full bar, a stage production featuring live cutting and styling from Making the Cut's five finalists, a hair and fashion show, and a makeover reveal. During the stage production, against a backdrop of lights and music, stylists will have 30 minutes to create their best look live in front of the audience. Once the clock winds down, the finalists will present their models' looks to the judging panel.

As stylists then prepare to show off their hair and fashion collection, Scott Fontana's artistic team will present makeovers for two clients of Working Wardrobes (www.workingwardrobes.org), a nonprofit dedicated to creating an empowered workforce and changing the lives of men, women, young adults and veterans overcoming difficult challenges through job skills training, job placement assistance, wardrobe services and financial readiness training. The evening closes with judges making their final remarks, then awarding one stylist with the title of Orange County's Top Stylist 2014. Making the Cut's winner will take home the title, $2,500 cash and other prizes. The first and second runners up will receive $1,000 and $500 in cash, respectively, and gift baskets.

The six finalists in the competition were selected based on photo and video submissions, as well as a written submission stating why they should be named Orange County's Top Stylist 2014 to Making the Cut.

The live Making the Cut hair show competition event is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. Fans, friends, industry professionals, hair enthusiasts and community members are invited to attend. Tickets can be purchased for $10 pre-sale through Cristophe Salon Newport Beach's website (www.CristopheNB.com) or at the door for $15, while seats last.
