HP-CAST is being held in conjunction with the SC2010 supercomputing show also being held in New Orleans. This year HP-CAST will highlight a special focus session and keynote address on "energy efficient clusters and from mid-range to peta-scale systems". The topic of the Axceleon presentation is "Optimizing workflows utilizing GPU resources for image processing and how this is used in the 3D Animation Industry today and the expanding impact on other industries"

The GPU is being used in 3D animation development more frequently for preview and pre-visualization of the artist's work before final rendering on a CPU based render farm.
