Renfro Foods named Regional Finalist for U.S. Chamber 2014 Small Business of the Year Award

Salsa manufacturer noted for its best business practices and community involvement

FORT WORTH, TX, March 22, 2014 (Press-News.org) Renfro Foods was recognized as one of seven regional finalists for the 2014 DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for its business practices and community involvement. The company was previously honored in this capacity in 2012.

As the Southwest and South Central regional finalist, Renfro Foods and the other regional finalists, along with 100 Blue Ribbon Award winners, will be recognized by the Chamber during the 10th annual America's Small Business Summit, June 11-13 in Washington, DC. During the Summit, one regional finalist will be named Small Business of the Year and receive a $10,000 cash prize by the Chamber.

"Renfro Foods is an example of the powerful contributions small businesses can make in their communities and their states, but also more broadly to the country's economic recovery," U.S. Chamber President /CEO Thomas J. Donohue said. "The Chamber is happy to honor Renfro Foods for the policies and achievements that have made it a leader among small businesses and a driver of job creation, economic growth, and opportunity."

The second-and third-generation business was founded in 1940 by family patriarch George Renfro. The company's exceptional employee practices include access to an interest-free loan program, an education allowance, and a 401(k) plan with 3% matching. As a long-time civic leader, Renfro Foods has donated time and money on the local, state and national level to such organizations as the American Heart Association, Cook Children's Hospital, M.D. Anderson, and the Fort Worth Opera.

States in the Southwest and South Central regional category include Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
