Kid Rock's Backup Vocalist Jessie Wagner Takes Center Stage with Envy At The Mercury Lounge in NYC

The Pop-Rock N' Soul Band Celebrates the Debut of their New Album "Army of the Underdog"

2014-03-27
NEW YORK, NY, March 27, 2014 (Press-News.org) Jessie Wagner, long-time backup vocalist to multi-platinum artist Kid Rock, takes a turn in the spotlight as lead singer of her band Envy. Jam with the rock stars at 8 PM on April 2, 2014, at the renowned lower-east side hot-spot, Mercury Lounge, located at 217 East Houston St., NY, NY 10002. There is a $10 cover charge per person and you must be at least 21 years of age to be admitted. The performance includes the latest heart-pounding tracks off Envy's new album, "Army of the Underdog." With a hot and clever mix of pop, soul and rock, reminiscent of rock gods like Heart and Led Zeppelin, Envy is going to set the stage on fire.

"Army of the Underdog," the feature song and title of the eight-track album, is described by the band as a "rock anthem" tribute to all the "outcasts and misfits of society - the "artistic rebels" who refuse to change who they are to please others. "I was told that I shouldn't do rock music - that I looked like I should be doing something else," says Jessie. "'Army of the Underdog' expresses my feelings about those judgments. Anytime you go against what people say, they will bet against you and label you a misfit...an underdog." Guitarist, Kieran Sullivan added, "We had a revolving door for a while, with different musicians filling in here and there. Eventually, we were fortunate enough to find our own 'crew of misfits' that worked."

The official music video for "Army of the Underdog," will drop on April 2, 2014. For more information about ENVY and their upcoming national tour, visit http://www.jessiewagner.net/news/. All Envy music can be purchased on Reverbnation, iTunes, Spotify, CD Baby and Amazon.

"Can't wait for the new Envy LP! Much love, from Paris! - FrenCHIC; Paris, France

"So completely in love with what Envy stands for. Thank you." - Chase G; Brooklyn, NY

"MAGIC. Total magic. More ... we want more!" - Quentin B; Louisville, KY

About Envy
Teamed up since 2009, Envy is a NY-based Pop-Rock N' Soul quintet that creates gripping beats built to blow your speakers apart one power riff at a time. Jessie Wagner, lead vocalist of Envy, embodies soul while unapologetically bringing a broad range of aggressive, in your face, vocals to the band. With the support of hard-hitting beats, writhing guitar riffs, and savagely intoxicating bass from her band mates, this 'crew of misfits' is a match made in rock heaven. Envy's music catalog includes a self-titled EP, full-length album - "Handle It", and their latest sophomore project - "Army of the Underdog."
