MARBLEHEAD, OH, March 29, 2014 (Press-News.org) The Lighthouse Lodge on the Lakeside/Marblehead Peninsula is readying for another successful season. "Our guests return each year because the Lodge serves as an excellent home base," says owner, Jeff Bumbera. "For several years, we have been fortunate to welcome one family which includes four generations," says Jeff. "Like some other returning groups, before unpacking they walk around the interior of the Lighthouse Lodge to discover what "new" antiques or shadowboxes have been added since their last visit."
In 1999 while brainstorming a new venture for a small retail shop on their property, Jeff with his wife Lisa, recalled their younger days working with vacationers. Together they created a vision of what a vacation rental should be - a home away from home. Jeff Bumbera grew up in Catawba, attending Port Clinton schools with Lisa and both spent summers working for local businesses catering to vacationers. While maintaining their established design business Bumbera Design, Jeff and Lisa spent years in construction and remodeling, refurbishing and repurposing antiques, and creating art. Many weekends were spent at auctions or estate and garage sales to build a distinct collection for the Lodge. When Jeff heard of an old-fashioned child's billiard table at Goodwill, he bought the table, turned it upside down and created an exceptional light fixture. Jeff says that the Lodge is "2400 square feet of guest home filled with uncommon, creative and curious details. Our vision became reality. We have a rare and comfortable vacation residence for guests."
The Lighthouse Lodge stands out among Ohio vacation rentals because it is recognized as a retreat away from home. The fully-furnished and equipped Lighthouse Lodge can sleep up to 22 in the downstairs, and the upstairs efficiency welcomes up to 5 people. With all linens provided, a complete kitchen and pleasant furnishings, the Lighthouse Lodge is an affordable opportunity for fun in the area. Centrally located in Vacationland, Ohio, the Lighthouse Lodge has many nearby prime destinations and attractions, including the Lake Erie Islands, state parks, beaches, Lakeside, historic landmarks, Camp Perry and Cedar Point.
Each evening, guests regroup and celebrate their day indoors in a spacious, engaging setting or gathered outdoors around the fire pit. Jeff and Lisa recall that over the years the Lighthouse Lodge has been home for families, fishermen, marksmen, birders, bikers, historians, hunters, reunions, business and church retreats, bachelor/bachelorette parties and weekend getaways. Guests play horseshoes or cornhole, take their boats or jet skis to the free boat launch nearby or spend an evening grilling dinner while talking about the day, but remain connected to the world outside their vacation through wifi and cable television.
Jeff and Lisa are looking forward to another season of guests to welcome to their Lighthouse Lodge. Take a virtual tour by visiting Tours.GotRobo.com/56536. Details about the Lighthouse Lodge are available at LighthouseLodge.net
