YES Class and State Representatives Tour Solar Innovations, Inc.'s Corporate Office and Manufacturing Facility

PINE GROVE, PA, March 31, 2014 (Press-News.org) Solar Innovations, Inc., a custom manufacturer of greenhouses; folding, sliding, and stacking walls, windows, and screens; sunrooms; and skylights recently hosted a YES (Your Employability Skills) class from Pine Grove Area High School for a tour.

The Northeast PA Manufacturers and Employers Council along with Solar Innovations Inc., Pine Grove, recently hosted a YES (Your Employability Skills) class from Pine Grove Area High School for a plant tour. Also along for the tour were House Majority Policy Members Representative Mike Tobash, Representative Ryan Mackenzie, Representative RoseMarie Swanger, Representative Dan Truitt, Representative Neal Goodman as well as other staff members.

Solar Innovations, Inc. representatives, including President Greg Header, guided students around the facility, giving them an inside look at how a manufacturing facility operates, as well as careers that are available to them. The students got to hear directly from their local state representatives on the importance of the skills they are learning while enrolled in the YES Northeast Certificate Program.

YES, which is administered by the Northeast PA Manufacturers & Employers Council, is a 120-hour, 1-credit, year-round elective course that addresses the shortfall of basic skills that employers say are lacking in many job applicants. The course addresses 38 modules in all, including communication, team building, interview/resume/cover letter writing, completing a job application, personal finance, conflict resolution, time management, and career exploration. The curriculum was developed based upon today's business and industry needs, with many of the subjects being in-demand trainings that are being offered to the incumbent workforce.
