WASHINGTON, DC, April 03, 2014 (Press-News.org) Back in November, DC-based "artistic entrepreneur" Kayona Ebony Brown launched a self-contained crowd-sourcing site (http://ofmusicandmen.info) to help market and raise money for her project, Of Music and Men, and today we get to see what it is. Well, at least a tease.
Watch the teaser here: http://youtu.be/H4TUYvnclZI.
For more than two years, Brown has been developing a multifaceted project, which includes the novel, Tenth Letter, music, and a scripted series entitled, Of Music & Men.
The show is based in-part on her own life as the young, female owner of a fledgling independent record company in Washington, DC, who like most single women, find navigating the DC dating scene to be quite daunting. It aims to capture the same elements as shows like Entourage and Sex & the City of balancing friendship, dating and careers.
"It's even quoted in the teaser: 'DC has the lowest marriage rate in the country... and the highest number of same sex couples. So... if a single girl wants to find love, she might have better luck finding... well, a single girl.'
This is a story of a young woman that most women will be able to identify with. I believe that her journey to become who she will be is one that sets this story apart from all others. Women and men will admire her hustle and her development, and enjoy the experience of watching as she grows." - Kayona Ebony Brown
The show, Of Music & Men, is a spin-off of her acclaimed debut novel, Tenth Letter. Brown's admiration for Candyce Bushnell and her Sex & the City franchise is part of what fuels her creatively, sighting Bushnell's successes with one group of characters across multiple platforms.
Brown plans to continue doing her part to grow this franchise in preparation for right opportunity to get this project to the world.
