Dentist Talks CEREC and The Advantages For Cosmetic Dentistry In Fenton, MO

Cosmetic dentistry isn't just for looks. CEREC has pushed many procedures into the future.

2014-04-10
FENTON, MO, April 10, 2014 (Press-News.org) In recent years, crowns have become more esthetically appealing. Traditionally, full coverage crown materials were made of stainless steal, metals and porcelain-fused-to-metal. With the introduction of CEREC technology, dental crowns are taking a turn for the best.

"If we are speaking about CEREC, it has significantly changed the field of dentistry. There is no question about it. CEREC increases the integrity of the dental crown's fit and appearance. It's a really good product without the long wait, which makes it very convenient for patients," explains Dr. Kemlage, Fenton, MO dentist.

CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, can turn two or three visits into one. Because many people don't have enough time on their hands, designing and placing a crown is possible in a single visit. How is that possible?

Alongside CEREC, there is the CAD/CAM technology. This allows the dentist to scan and capture a 3D image of the damaged tooth. The CAD software produces the crown's image, and the CAM technology mills the restoration out of a ceramic material.

CEREC isn't only for restorative treatments. A dental crown can also be considered a cosmetic service as well. For example, a crown can cover intrinsic/extrinsic stains and minor spacing between the teeth.

Moreover, CEREC also assists with other cosmetic treatments, including veneers and onlays. Veneers cover stains and minor spacing and alignment issues specifically related to the front teeth.

If a patient desires to conserve more of the natural tooth, onlays can be an alternative to a dental crown. An onlay can be fabricated with CAD/CAM technology, which allows Dr. Kemlage to only place the porcelain restoration in a tooth's affected area, during one dental appointment.

"There is a push for stronger and more esthetic dental materials, which CEREC is paving the way for. Our dental center provides state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, as well as, offering many traditional dental methods. We believe CEREC has made it much easier for our patients," says Dr. Kemlage.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Kemlage, call the Fenton cosmetic dentistry office at (636) 225-1777. Or patients can go to www.kemlagefamilydentistry.com for oral health resources and an appointment form.

Restorative Dental Treatment Helps Patients Achieve Long-Lasting Smiles

2014-04-10
When people think of health, they typically just think of general health, not the condition of the teeth and gums. Oral health is just as important as overall health because dental problems can negatively affect a patient's overall health. Patients are instructed to brush and floss their teeth on a daily basis, and this is to keep plaque bacteria at bay. However, bad oral hygiene only spurs further bacteria growth and the development of acid, which eats away at tooth enamel. Once tooth decay develops, a patient has already made a dent in his/her oral health. If a ...
