Foundation's 2nd Annual Super Mom 5K Run/Walk. The event will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. at Baldwin Park-Harbour Park, located at 4918 New Broad Street, Orlando, FL 32814.
"We are thrilled to be a sponsor at this fun family event that honors mothers for all they do," auto accident attorney Michael T. Gibson said. "This event is open to the public and raises awareness of the challenges and importance of motherhood while also empowering and celebrating 'Super Moms' everywhere."
The 2nd Annual Super Mom 5K Run/Walk is an empowering, uplifting and inspirational event celebrating Super Moms. It will also raise awareness of teen pregnancy, fatherless homes and single parenthood. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. There is a $35 entry fee for runners who register on race day. Discounted rates are available to those who pre-register online at the Darcy J. Foundation website at http://darcyjfoundation.com. Runners will also have the option to race as a team with friends, families or their co-workers.
Prior to the run, participants will be invited to warm up with a Zumba fitness class. The 5K run begins at 8:00 a.m. Immediately following the race there will be an awards ceremony. Awards will be given out to the top 10 overall runners, both male and female. Awards will also be given out to the largest team, top fundraising team and the team with the most moms. Following the race, there will be a Kids Fun Run that is free of charge for children ages 10 and under. There will also be a "Family Fun Zone," with activities, snacks and refreshments that will be available from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
A percentage of the proceeds will benefit Compassionate Hands and Hearts Breast Cancer Outreach (www.compassionatehandsandhearts.org), in their fight to support those needing help
battling breast cancer by improving the quality of life for them and their families.
