IRS to pilot a Micro Focus-enabled application development environment in support of its Automated Collection System

2010-11-18
ROCKVILLE, MD, November 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) Micro Focus (LSE.MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a software application development pilot program with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that will support the agency's Automated Collection System.

The IRS pilot program includes licenses for Micro Focus' Mainframe Express Enterprise Edition (MFEEE) solution. MFEEE enables users to migrate their software application development environment off of the mainframe and onto the Windows platform. By moving off the mainframe, developers are able to build and maintain software applications with greater ease of use, improved speed and efficiency.

The IRS Automated Collection System is a three-tiered CICS (Customer Information Control System) application. Customer service representatives use the Automated Collection System's case management abilities to contact taxpayers, review their case histories, and issue notices, liens, or levies to resolve the cases.
