"Let it Rain!" Declares Westchester Linen Supply Company

New Rain Water Capture Program Revolutionizes Local Company's Practices

2014-04-19
WHITE PLAINS, NY, April 19, 2014 (Press-News.org) Most professionals grumble when rain falls (about 4 inches in April alone), but White Plains Linen sings and dances in the rain. As the largest family-owned "green" linen supply company in the U.S., they continue to set industry standards of sustainability with their renewable energy initiatives. Their new program uses filtered rain water during the process of washing table linens, towels, and uniforms for over 2,000 restaurants, caterers, resorts, and country clubs throughout the New York metro area.

The company recently received its official TRSA "Clean Green" certification, and uses steam energy from Wheelabrator Westchester L.P.to fuel their laundry equipment and heating systems.

The rain water collection project began with the construction of the new facility at 4 John Walsh Boulevard in Peekskill and was completed early this year. Two 15,000 collection tanks gather rain water from the 100,000 square feet of roof to be used in their laundering process. This saves approximately 200,000 gallons of water each month-- 2.4 million gallons annually-- before taking into account the additional runoff experienced during heavy rains.

Says Bruce Botchman, CEO of White Plains Linen, "We are committed to conserving natural resources whenever possible. Our clients rely on us to provide them with the highest quality linen in a timely fashion. The fact that we can do this while using sustainable energy sources makes us all feel better about our work!"

White Plains Linen is a third generation family-owned enterprise and employs more than 500 people throughout the County.

White Plains Linen | LINENS à la CARTE is the tri-states' leading supplier of fine linen rentals, including napkins, tablecloths, table skirting, chair covers and sashes, kitchen uniforms, entrance mats, in a full spectrum of colors, designs and patterns.

The company's LINENS à la CARTE division offers a complete selection of high-quality linen rental products for special events such as weddings, corporate parties, banquets, and bar/bat mitzvahs.

A family-owned business. White Plains Linen has been dressing the tri-states area's finest tables since 1938.
