BANGOR, ME, April 20, 2014 (Press-News.org) Bangor Federal Credit Union is awarding 14 area food pantries with generous donation checks on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 as the result of a successful Campaign for Ending Hunger. The event will be held at 10:00 AM in the conference room of Bangor Federal's Hogan Road branch. A Representative from each food pantry will attend the ceremony to accept their share of $24,416.03 that Bangor Federal raised this past year.
Collectively, Maine Credit Unions raised $513,309.19 in 2013--a record breaking number since the campaign began in 1990. Bangor Federal placed 4th in the state, raising a total of $22,816.03, which qualified them for a grant of $1,600 to add to their total and distribute to food pantries in our community.
Bangor Federal has participated in the Campaign for Ending Hunger every year since its inception, and it has come up with some creative ways to raise money, including their first Annual Bangor Federal Golf Tournament and their own Maine Family Favorites Cookbook.
Bangor Federal Credit Union is a thriving financial institution with three locations in Bangor and Brewer. While much has changed in the last 50 years, the original mission of the credit union has remained the same - to provide a professional, friendly, personalized, and competitive resource for financial services.
Since the Campaign for Ending Hunger began in 1990, Maine Credit Unions have raised over 5.3 million dollars and have distributed it to food pantries throughout the state. For more information on the Campaign for Ending Hunger, and to donate to this worthy cause, visit the Maine Credit Union League website.
