2014-04-24
SANDY, UT, April 24, 2014 (Press-News.org) Last Friday night two community oriented organizations, iLoveKickboxing-Sandy and Lole (Live Out Loud Everyday) in Salt Lake City, teamed up to provide a free community Women's Empowerment Night in Sandy Utah. The free event included a visit from 2010 US Olympian and Lole Ambassador Rebekah Bradford as well as a basic self defense workshop presented by "Utah's Leading Family Safety Expert" Brett Lechtenberg of iLoveKickboxing-Sandy and Personal Mastery Martial Arts.

Rebekah Bradford is an Olympic speedskater who competed in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver for the United States. Her competitive history includes 6 seasons with the World Cup Team, 7 US Speedskating Championships, and the 2010 Winter Olympics. Rebekah's story is amazing - after recovering from a double knee surgery and a bilateral pulmonary embolism in 2012 she has returned to the world of competitive speedskating and is an inspiration to all who know her.

At this women's empowerment night, Rebekah Bradford told her story about coming back to her athletic career after her near-death experience 2 years ago. One young woman who attended the event, Vanessa Black, said, "It was very inspiring to hear Rebekah's story. It provided a lot of motivation for me to set and work towards goals. You walk away a better person after hearing her."

The women's empowerment night also included a free self defense course taught by Brett Lechtenberg, who is Utah's top expert on personal and family safety. Dubbed "Utah's Leading Family Safety Expert," Brett has trained thousands of everyday people to empower themselves both physically and mentally, as they learn the safest and most effective methods of personal protection. Vanessa Black, who attended the seminar, also said, "The self defense part also empowered me to feel safer and better able to defend myself were a situation ever to arise. It was well-worth my Friday night!"
