ABOUT AHTI
Company founder Roy Orth is a 33-year law enforcement veteran who served 17 years in investigative assignments and 12 years as sergeant of detectives within the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department. Sgt. Orth is frequently requested to serve as a guest instructor and public speaker in a wide range of law enforcement related fields including investigative techniques, sex crimes, family violence, missing persons, financial crimes including forgery/fraud, real estate scams, and identity theft. Sgt. Orth was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Records Management System currently in use by the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. The project, which lasted over two years, including the development of training and operations manuals and the training of over 2000 law enforcement and civilian personnel. Following retirement from the KCPD in 2007 Sgt. Orth was engaged by a national company to demonstrate public safety computerized software throughout the United States prior to the creation of The American Heartland Training Institute.
Instructor and founder Mark Jones has 28 years of experience as an attorney practicing criminal law. He holds multiple degrees (B.S.E. Social Studies, M.A. History, J.D. Law) and has concentrated his areas of practice in criminal law and procedure, civil rights, and constitutional law. He has extensive trial experience and spent over 10 years in the Jackson County, Missouri prosecutor's office. Jones has also worked as a defense attorney and civil attorney in the areas of Section 1983 litigation involving civil rights violations. Mark Jones was the Jackson County Counselor who is the chief legal advisor for the prosecutor, sheriff, county executive, county legislature and the department of correction.
AHTI founder and instructor Gary Hacker is the assistant chief of training for the Blue River Public Safety Institute in Independence, Missouri. Chief Hacker has certified hundreds of law enforcement instructors in the Expandable and PR-24 Batons, O.C. Pepper Spray, Ground Fighting and WRAD (Weapon Retention and Disarming) and thousands in basic and advanced techniques. Highlights of Hacker's experience include serving as a training expert for the U.S. State Department and work as a special police defensive tactics instructor training Iraqi police cadets in Baghdad for the Embassy Security Force. Hacker was one of six American police instructors assigned by the U.S. government to the Baghdad Police College where over 18,000 Iraqi police cadets were trained and certified.
