MINNEAPOLIS, MN, November 19, 2010 (Press-News.org) Recently, the IEEE Learning Technology Newsletter published an article titled Bridging Intellectual and Technological Innovations: The Collaborative Culture of Assessment, written by Dr. Juanita Ikuta.
As the drive for accountability in higher education continues, it is essential to establish an assessment system that produces high-quality, valid measures of learner achievement that are transparent to learners, faculty, and external stakeholders. Providing this type of assessment system through a collaborative model has introduced the need for a defined intellectual infrastructure, and a sound technological system endorsed by internal stakeholders. In response to the challenges posed by seeking full participation in generating this model, this article highlights several tools that have been developed to support the intellectual and technological infrastructure of the assessment system.
Ikuta is an assessment specialist in Assessment and Learning Analytics with Capella University, a regionally-accredited online university. She provides thought leadership on innovations in quality through assessment triangle practices that use a model of cognition to create measures and to frame analytics.
