Recent studies performed at the University of California, Davis, provide scientific proof of messages about the power of gratitude that have come down to us through the ages. Not only did these UC Davis studies prove that gratitude improved quality of life, participants also made progress toward important goals.

In the movie and book of The Secret, Rhonda Byrne described how the ancient wisdom came to her in a book written over 100 years ago. The book was "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles. 2. Supportive Relationships: Notice now that you can't think angry thoughts and thoughts of gratitude at the same time. Imagine what might happen if you consistently thought about the things you appreciate most about those you love.

3. Confidence: Think grateful thoughts and notice how you feel about yourself. You can't feel gratitude and feel bad about yourself at the same time. What might feelings of gratitude do for your confidence and self-esteem?

4. Success: Now think of something you want and feel grateful that it is coming to you. It should also be difficult to see yourself as a failure and feel gratitude at the same time.

5. Happiness: Now imagine how your daily life might improve if you could maintain an attitude of gratitude throughout the day.
