Acclaimed Restaurateur Burt Rapoport Introduces Casual Waterfront Dining to the Avenue with November 19 Grand Opening

Guests Among First to Experience Rapoport's New Casual American Waterfront Dining Concept in Delray Beach

2010-12-09
BOCA RATON, FL, December 09, 2010 (Press-News.org) The invite-only VIP Preview of Deck 84, held Friday, November 19, offered more than 900 guests a glimpse of the Avenue's first waterfront, Casual American dining concept. Guests enjoyed an open bar and generous menu samplings prepared by Executive Chef Chuck Gittleman while mingling with the who's who of South Florida partygoers. Deck 84 officially opened on Saturday, November 20.

Delray Beach diners docked their boats, enjoyed an evening of delicious flavors, great music and inspired great conversation amid an energetic waterfront dining sanctuary. Sun-kissed water, boats,
tiki torches, and plush seating set the scene as guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed Casual American cuisine while overlooking Delray's breathtaking Intracoastal Waterway.

Delray Beach Youth Vocational Charter School leaders were present, including the school's principal, Marjorie Waldo, to accept a $2,400 donation from Deck 84 to benefit the school. Delray Youth Vocational Charter School's underlying purpose is to provide academic remediation and acceleration, life skills instruction, vocational training, and family support and assistance to students of Palm Beach County who are economically disadvantaged and who have not been successful in the mainstream educational setting.

"With all the restaurants I've opened throughout the years, it's always been a priority of mine to give back to the community," said Burt Rapoport. "When I contacted Delray Beach Mayor Woodie McDuffie and asked him which charity he recommended, he told me the Delray Youth Vocational Charter School and I couldn't be more pleased with the exceptional work they do in this community."

Deck 84 is open daily beginning at 11:30 a.m. each weekday for lunch and dinner, serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dining offerings at Deck 84 include inventive flatbreads, such as the Brie and Pear and the Sashimi Tuna from $9 to $13. Light Bites and sharing plates such as Lamb Meatball Sliders and Cheeseburger Spring Rolls range from $9 to $15. Main Plates such as Maple Ginger-Glazed Scottish Salmon, Baja Fish Tacos and Soy and Ginger Marinated Skirt Steak range from $14 to $23.
