DOWNERS GROVE, IL, December 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons (ISPS) has elected Dr. Sandeep Jejurikar (www.drjejurikar.com), a plastic surgeon in suburban Chicago, as its new President. The ISPS has multiple objectives which include promoting the highest standard of competence, care, and ethics among plastic surgeons and improving communication to the public and governmental bodies about all aspects of plastic surgery.
"Our state plastic surgery society plays a critical role," says Dr. Jejurikar, a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery near Chicago. "One goal of ISPS is to enhance the quality of care, and we accomplish it in two key ways - we educate our members on the latest advances, and we educate the public and our elected officials about plastic surgery."
The ISPS was formed in 2009, when the Board of Directors of the Chicago Society of Plastic Surgery recognized the need for and advantages of a statewide society. Though the city society had been in existence since 1965, the evolving medical landscape demanded change. "We needed to be more actively engaged in Springfield," notes Dr. Jejurikar. "One of our primary responsibilities as board-certified plastic surgeons is to protect our patients from unfair and unsafe legislative initiatives."
Last year, ISPS was instrumental in defeating a proposed state tax on cosmetic surgery. In addition, they were successful in stopping a bill that proposed allowing single-degree dentists to perform outpatient plastic surgery. Dr. Jejurikar notes, "We were successful at delivering the message to our lawmakers that the general public deserves to have plastic surgery procedures performed by plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery."
"You learn a great deal in medical school, during your training, and in your own practice," Dr. Jejurikar says. "But we'd be remiss if we didn't recognize that learning is a lifelong process. And who better to learn from than our peers? I'm thrilled to be a part of this organization and hope that we continue to grow and improve as a group."
Dr. Sandeep Jejurikar (www.drjejurikar.com) is a board-certified plastic surgeon performing cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery in suburban Chicago. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals and went on to complete two additional years of clinical fellowship training. He performs cosmetic procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck, facelift, and breast enlargement in suburban Chicago. He also performs reconstructive procedures such as breast reconstruction, scar revision, skin cancer treatment, burn reconstruction, and hand surgery. He presently serves as President of the Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons and is affiliated with other professional societies in his field, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Workers' compensation can be an incredibly expensive cost for a company. Essentially, workers' compensation amounts to paying an employee who was injured on the job for not working. Though most of us agree on the need to compensate workers who are unable to work as a result of an accident, it is also important to make certain that these employees are legitimately injured. Paying for a worker who is faking or exaggerating the extent of an injury, just to receive pay without work, can be a difficult cost for a company to bear.
