LateRooms.com - Head to Barcelona's Macba for Are You Ready For TV

Are You Ready For TV? could make visitors think differently about art shown on television.

2010-12-14
BARCELONA, SPAIN, December 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) Are You Ready For TV? is a new exhibition in Barcelona that looks into how art is affected when it is displayed on television.

The show is taking place at the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Macba), with guests at the cheap hotels Barcelona offers able to view the collection until April 25th 2011.

Curated by Chus Martinez, the display is split up into ten sections and examines philosophical and artistic work when it is brought into the televisual realm.

Among the famous names going under the microscope are Pier Paolo Pasolini, Jean-Luc Godard, Andy Warhol and Martha Rosler.

"Art on television is somehow never quite television, nor is it ever quite art - a hybrid or an assemblage results from their interaction," explained the organisers.

They explained that one of the most important parts of the display is that the content being examined is outside of its own time - a factor that makes more meaningful interpretation possible.

Part of the hypothesis of the exhibition is that it is very difficult for people to garner an understanding of art from their own era that is shown on television.

Admission to the Macba costs EUR7.50 (GBP6.30), with the museum opening from 11:00 to 19:30 local time on weekdays, 10:00 to 20:00 on Saturdays and 10:00 until 15:00 on Sundays.

Among the other exhibitions available to view is Latifa Echakhch's La Ronda.

For more information on this event, visit the Macba website or contact the venue on +34 934 120 810.
