Caterpillar has signed a cooperation agreement with Mascus, which is one of the major online marketplaces for used equipment.Caterpillar company well understands the importance of the Internet as a communication channel and so it has been using it for years. Apart from the main portal http://www.cat.com, Cat is also one of the first manufacturers in the world to build the used equipment website to allow customers to locate and review the quality used machinery available for sale available at the dealers around the world.
In order to increase Cat's used equipment sales, the company has established partnership with Mascus, top marketplace for used equipment. As a result, used equipment inventory from Cat dealers is to be found on Mascus, increasing web visibility at the same time.
As Robert Gregus, Marketing and Sales Operations Manager, says: "The partnership with Mascus supports Caterpillar's used equipment sales strategy. The equipment is significantly more visible on the web, which means it's more visible to customers surfing the web for used equipment"
Overall, Caterpillar Inc. will publish and update more than 40,000 used equipment listings from 160 Caterpillar dealers on Mascus. The fact that CatUsed and Mascus established direct integration makes the double entry impossible for the dealers. Mascus will make the inventory visible in 35 languages all around the world.
According to Mascus Sales Director Rickard Petersson: "With Mascus strong online visibility and international presence, Caterpillar Inc. will help its dealer network to reach a large audience of buyers visiting Mascus website every month and increase their sales of second-hand machinery".
