Will Marre Proclaims that Proctor and Gamble is Winning in 21st Century Business

Leadership expert, Will Marre, spotlights Proctor and Gamble for their approach to corporate social responsibility that includes providing safe drinking water to those in need to clean laundry for disaster victims.

2010-12-17
ENCINITAS, CA, December 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) "Proctor and Gamble is a company who understands that with success comes responsibility," states Will Marre, CEO of Realeadership Alliance and author of Save the World and Still Be Home For Dinner (Capital Books). Marre has included Proctor and Gamble among such companies as Gap and Burt's Bees in a special blog series entitled Giving is Winning in which Marre is bringing attention to companies that give big.

According to Marre, giving and winning go together. "The companies on the Giving is Winning list are making industry leading profits and growing at a healthy clip," he contends. "When giving becomes an essential part of your culture, employees are inspired to create more value and consumers choose you."

Marre's list of Giving is Winning companies comes from research he is conducting with Clemson University and the University of California San Diego called 21 Companies for the 21st Century (http://www.willmarre.com/wm/21-companies-leadership-research/). The research is examining what successful companies are doing in today's challenging environment that average companies are not. One factor according to Marre is the sincere desire to give.

Proctor and Gamble, contends Marre, is a great example of how giving at the core of business can lead to success. For example, through Tide's Loads of Hope over 34,000 loads of laundry have been cleaned for families affected by disasters. Since 2006, Pampers and Unicef have protected 100 million women and their babies from against maternal and neonatal tetanus. By aligning their cause with their brand, contends Marre, Proctor and Gamble has created a new business strategy rather than merely a cause marketing campaign.
