MUNICH, GERMANY, September 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) People heading to Munich hotels this October can look forward to an event involving about 90 of the city's museums, art galleries and cultural institutions.
The annual Long Night of the Museums features late-night opening hours at many of the Bavarian capital's top visitor attractions, along with other special events and activities.
Visitors can purchase just one ticket and gain access to all of the participating museums, with a dedicated shuttle bus service available to transport people from venue to venue.
Organised tours are on offer for those who may be unsure of where to start, while others can please themselves and head to whichever one of the attractions takes their fancy.
The event takes place on October 16th this year and traditionally attracts up to 40,000 people.
Although the official programme for this year's Long Night of the Museums will not be published until early September, visitors are guaranteed a memorable evening with many highlights.
This is because most of Munich's top museums open their doors into the early hours and participate in the event.
Popular attractions in the city include the BMW Museum, which lies on the outskirts of the city centre near the Olympic Park.
Allowing visitors to explore the history of the famous German car manufacturer, the attraction is known for its distinctive appearance and is one of the city's most-visited buildings.
Even more popular is the Deutsches Museum, which offers a host of interactive displays based on science and technology.
This impressive museum was established in 1903 and is said to be the largest attraction of its kind in the world after adding a new wing in 2009.
For more information on this event, visit the Long Night of the Museums website.
