LateRooms.com - Berliner Liste to Attract Art Fans

More than 60 international art galleries are set to participate in the 2010 Berliner Liste.

2010-09-01
BERLIN, GERMANY, September 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) Culture vultures may be tempted to book Berlin hotels for the city's forthcoming contemporary art fair.

Running from October 7th to 10th, Berliner Liste is a major celebration of the German capital's thriving arts scene that involves exhibitions at more than 60 international galleries.

Contemporary art and photography provide the main focus for the event, which is now in its seventh year.

However, visitors can expect to enjoy a diverse array of attractions, ranging from paintings, drawings and sculpture to performance art pieces and video installations.

Berliner Liste traditionally attracts about 12,000 art lovers, collectors and curators to the city each year.

As usual, this year's exhibitors are set to come from far and wide to be involved with the event.

Confirmed participants for 2010 include Bucharest's Anaid Art Gallery, Galeria Hartmann from Barcelona, Switzerland's Galerie am Schloss and Gallery Elephant from Riga in Latvia.

The organisers are known for selecting unusual and intriguing locations for the events, with previous venues including an old school, an empty hotel building and a former post office.

Berliner Liste celebrates the city's status as one of Europe's most innovative and creative capitals.

It is the second largest festival of its kind in Berlin after the Art Forum and continues to go from strength to strength each year.

The event was founded by local gallery owner Wolfram Vocker, who wanted to provide a fresh platform for emerging figures at the cutting edge of art and photography.

In keeping with the fair's tradition of choosing a new central venue each year, the 2010 Berliner Liste is set to take place at Munze Berlin.

Exhibitions are priced at EUR13 (GBP10.60) for adults and EUR10 for concessions.

For more information on this event, visit the Berliner Liste website.
