ROME, ITALY, December 19, 2010 (Press-News.org) Rome's MAXXI gallery will be the subject and the host of a new exhibition entitled A Photographic Tale.
The prestigious arts space only opened this year but has already garnered plenty of praise, including recently winning the Stirling prize 2010, which is handed out by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Guests at 5 star hotels in Rome will now be able to reflect on the construction process, as 20 photographers have been tasked with telling the story of what happened on the building site leading up to its completion.
The organisers described how the development "necessarily" featured a certain state of transition throughout.
"It was out of reflection on this transitory nature that the idea for the project was born, a way of fixing through images the 'in progress' condition of the site: an 'auteur memory'," they added.
Among the photographers whose work will appear in this collection are Claudio Gobbi, Iwan Baan, Angela Rosati, Guido Guido, Antonio Biasiucci and Andrea Jemolo.
It will be on show from December 16th 2010 to March 6th 2011.
The venue opens from 11:00 local time every day - except Monday, when it is closed - and closes at 22:00 on Thursdays and Saturdays and 19:00 every other day.
Full price tickets cost EUR11 (GBP9.30), but there are concessions available.
For more information on this event, visit the MAXXI website or contact the venue on +39 06 3996 7350.
