ATLANTA, GA, December 22, 2010 (Press-News.org) Craft Stove and Fireplace Center, an Atlanta fireplace and Atlanta wood stove supplier, is advising homeowners to take advantage of the 2010 Federal Tax Credit for Consumer Energy Efficiency as the deadline nears. The Residential Energy Property Credit (Section 1121) gives homeowners the opportunity to receive a tax credit if they install energy efficient products, including biomass stoves, before December 31, 2010.
The tax credit covers 30% of the cost of qualified energy efficient biomass stoves, up to $1,500. The tax credit does include installation costs.
Biomass stoves burn biomass fuel in order to heat a home or its water supply. Biomass fuel includes agricultural crops and trees, wood and wood waste and residues, including wood pellets, as well as plants, grasses, residues, and fibers.
"The energy efficient tax credit represents a great opportunity for homeowners," explains Scott Clawson, director of marketing with Craft Stove and Fireplace Center. "They have the chance to save money up front on biomass and wood burning stoves while also reducing their carbon footprint."
Atlanta wood stoves must meet certain requirements in order to qualify for the tax credit. The stove must be installed by December 31, 2010, and the installation must be at an existing home and principal residence; new construction and rentals do not qualify. Finally, the stove must have a thermal efficiency rating of at least 75% as measured using a lower heating value.
To claim the tax credit, the manufacturer of the Atlanta wood stove must provide certification that the product tests for at least a 75% efficiency rating. The certification statement may be in the form of a written copy with the packaging of the component or property, in printable form on the manufacturer's website, or in another manner where the taxpayer can retain the certification statement for tax recordkeeping purposes.
Craft Stove and Fireplace Center holds energy efficiency as a top priority, and urges homeowners to take efficiency and environmental impact into consideration when selecting Atlanta wood stoves and Atlanta fireplaces. With a full range of energy efficient products in its Atlanta showroom, including many top brand wood and biomass stoves fireplaces and inserts, as well as Atlanta wood pellets, Craft Stove and Fireplace Center will assist any consumers interested in claiming the tax credit to select an eligible product for their home.
