WORCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND, December 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Outcomes UK is offering consultancy and resourcing solutions to organisations within Adult Services as they prepare for and implement the personalisation agenda in 2011.
The move comes in response to 'A vision for adult social care: Capable communities and active citizens' (November 2010), which details the government's commitment to finding new ways to improve social care in England.
Signifying a major shift in the way that providers approach service development and delivery, the personalisation agenda places increased emphasis into the hands of service users. Individuals can decide how, where and with whom they wish to spend their budget in order to meet their needs and achieve desired outcomes, enabling them to live independently and having greater choice and control in their lives.
Providing support to the preparation and implementation of the agenda - through creating a seamless service and helping organisations to work together and build reablement plans - Outcomes UK will draw upon its expertise in Adult Services and utilise its bank of qualified Associates on project or interim management job contracts.
This will aid the deployment of staff and the development of new roles within Local Authorities, and provide the necessary expertise to advise on adapting business models to meet the changing needs of this new open market environment. It will also incorporate Quality Assurance and performance monitoring facilities, a department in which Outcomes UK has recently seen major investment and expansion.
Mary Stevenson, Resourcing Manager at Outcomes UK, comments: "Since the introduction of the personalisation and transformation agendas, Local Authorities have been striving to put this new innovative care provision in place. With the change of government and budget cuts, there are a number of urgent issues that need to be addressed around how Local Authorities will manage with financial issues and other issues around resourcing, such as capacity on the frontline to undertake assessments. There is also the question of how will Local Authorities balance the financial aspect of decommissioning in house services whilst commissioning private providers.
"Outcomes UK is supporting Local Authorities to not only identify where the issues are but also by working alongside frontline social workers (and teams up to director level of social care) to take them forward to improve the lives of their service users."
Outcomes UK will also be able to provide advice on meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards for identifying quality and safe services for service users to purchase.
