This one-off concert by the opera star is likely to be popular among fans of the genre, since they may recognise Cedolins from her gig alongside icon Luciano Pavarotti in 1996.

She performed Tosca with the great singer and has since gone on to receive international fame and acclaim, appearing on stage in productions of Madame Butterfly, Cavalleria Rusticana and Simon Boccanegra among other shows.

Hotel Bilbao guests have not been given an indication of what Cedolins will sing in the Basque city's Teatro Arriaga on January 27th 2011, but the organisers of the evening have promised a memorable concert.

"[She] soon stands out due to the beautiful colour of her voice, her rich, warm timbre, outstanding volume, her clear diction, her notable range and her painstaking technique," they added.

Admission ranges from EUR7.20 (GBP6.15) to EUR30, depending on where people want to sit, with tickets available from the box office and online.

The action will kick off at 20:00 local time on the night.

Cedolins is one of several top-notch performers to take to the stage at the Teatro Arriaga in January, with the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa also due to appear.
