BEND, OR, December 31, 2010 (Press-News.org) The recent $9M award from North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services requires GL Solutions to make significant investments in order to increase stafff and relocate prior to meeting contract obligations. In addition to hiring for (39) new positions, GL Solutions is moving to a new office location in the Awbrey Village commercial space later this month.
The Business Development Forgivable Loan Fund was created to increase employment and capital investment in Deschutes County and help offset the cost of business relocation to and within the region. These costs can include the moving of equipment, purchase or construction of facilities, and site improvements such as the extension of public service and utilities.
As the designated administrator of the Fund, EDCO accepts grant applications from private firms in manufacturing, high-technology, or technology-based businesses, which have more than 75% of customers outside Deschutes County. EDCO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to diversifying the economy in Central Oregon by attracting new investment and jobs. Fund grantees must create a minimum of five new primary, permanent family wage jobs and invest at least $5 of new, taxable investments for each $1 allocated.
